Brookfield Central HS class of 2021 Sneak Peek | Bethany

Have you ever wondered what happens when we show up at a location for a shoot? Like, do I have my camera out and start firing off image after image in rapid succession? Or do we take our sweet time, perfecting each pose for one single frame and then move on?

It may be somewhere in the middle - book your own session and find out! (Sorry - I couldn’t resist!)

In all seriousness, rarely do I arrive with “camera in hand”. Rarely do I say, “And… pose!” (Actually, never have I said that.) I always chat up my subject and get them relaxed. I coach them on how to sit and stand. I give suggestions on what to do with their hands (always a popular question!) and I make sure they are comfortable and excited and not TOO nervous.

And here’s the deal. Nine times out of ten, the VERY first frame I shoot is not the greatest. It may be that my lights need to be adjusted, the subject may need to shake off some stiffness and anxiousness or any number of things. It’s the just first shot - as far as I’m concerned, it can easily be considered a “test shot.”

And then there’s Bethany. She is my one out of ten. THIS is her first shot.

Bethany, enjoy your Sneak Peek!

Everyone else reading this, don’t be jealous.

So now, after seeing the FIRST photo from her senior portrait session, just imagine how good the REST of the session is! Mom Kathy is going to have quite the decision on her hands at their Reveal + Selection Appointment. I suppose it IS a good problem to have.

Does this sound like fun to you?

Does it sound more like a dare?

Either way, you know you need to schedule those family portraits/senior photos/professional headshots. Pull off the bandaid! That’s the hardest part. Just pull it off and put a date on your calendar. I’ll even count you down like Mel Robbins. Ready? Three, two, one…..
