I feel a special sort of “GAME ON!” challenge when I am commissioned to photograph a reluctant subject. It happens ALL the time with headshot clients. Honestly, adults are AWFUL about getting their photo taken. They hate it. And with high school seniors, it happens, too. Sometimes it’s just nerves. Sometimes it’s lack of excitement. I get it. Not everyone is gung-ho about getting senior portraits. And sometimes it simply comes down to a mild-mannered personality.
That was the case with Calvin. He needed to warm up to me and my camera. And let me tell you, when he did, I considered it a personal victory. (Especially when a genuine smile snuck out.) I am thrilled with Calvin’s photos and I know he and his family are too.
