Brookfield East HS class of 2021 Sneak Peek | Christopher

Hey, hey, hey it’s the final Knutson brother! It was Christopher’s turn for senior photos and he had the camera all to himself. I love seeing that smile and happy eyes. We had a fun afternoon in the Third Ward! I can’t wait to share the rest of the photos.

Enjoy your Sneak Peek, Christopher!

Maybe booking your senior or family photos has been a back burner task for you. Perhaps you have put it off because, quite honestly, you were so overwhelmed that you didn’t know where to even start. I’m gonna make things WAY easier for you. First, if you are here, you may as well just check out the rest of my work and see if Stories Framed Photography is a good fit for you.

HERE are some family and children sessions.

HERE are senior portrait sessions.

HERE are some general details about my rates.

If you’re still wondering what photographer is a good fit for you and yours, here are some questions for you to ask.

5 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

  1. DO YOU DO ___ PHOTOGRAPHY? This may seem like a silly question, but it’s not. Just like doctors who specialize in certain aspects of medicine, we photographers focus on certain aspects of your life. For example, I do NOT photograph weddings or newborns but I DO photograph children and high school seniors; I do NOT photograph boudoir but I DO photograph business headshots. On a related note…. BONUS TIP: If your favorite photographer doesn’t specialize in the type of photography that you need, she surely knows someone who does. Ask for a referral!

  2. DO YOU HAVE TRAINING OR CREDENTIALS? These days having a degree in your field may or may not make a difference “on paper” but the education someone receives certainly shows up somewhere. There are things I have learned at photography conferences, seminars and through the certification process that I never would have known. These concepts show up as technical know-how, the ability to suggest posing for different body types and knowing how to use lighting in an array of situations. They may cover things like composition, when and where to crop, and angles to embrace or avoid. Hiring a well-trained photographer will benefit you more than you even realize. It could literally be the difference between an okay photo of you and a head-turning portrait.

  3. WHAT DOES YOUR AVERAGE CLIENT SPEND FOR ___ PHOTOGRAPHY? This is an important question if you are comparing prices — and it’s a very different question than simply asking about a session fee. Some photographers don’t charge for the session but ask more for the prints and albums. Some charge more for the session and lower rates for wall art. Ask about the average client spend and you will (should) get a better answer than looking at the expenses in separate pieces. NOT-SO-SIDE NOTE: Photographers charge different amounts for what may SEEM like similar results. You need to weigh the actual price tag with so many other factors - how much you like and trust the person who will be working so closely with you and your family, how much you value having your family’s portraits on display in your home (versus sitting unseen on your hard drive) and what the value of art and love is worth to you.

  4. DO YOU OFFER PRINTED PRODUCTS OR JUST DIGITAL FILES? My job is not complete until you have something to put on your coffee table and something to hang on your wall. Your portraits should be shared and admired and looked at for longer than it takes to scroll through a newsfeed. Yes, I provide digital files for that purpose. But I also work with you to create a collection of heirloom products that you will enjoy for years, and eventually hand down to the next generation. I can’t tell you the number of clients who have come to me with a dusty USB drive of images and not a clue what to do with them. It breaks my heart every time.

  5. WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE? This may be more a question for you to observe than to actually ask. When you see a photographer’s website or social media feed, simply stated, do you like what you see? Do you prefer an Instagram-inspired filtered look (that will probably be dated in 2 years)? Do you like classic black and white? Do you like a clean and classic look for your color photos? What about bright and bold? Light and airy? Matted and muted? Every single photographer has a unique style to her work. What speaks to YOU? That is what matters most.
