class of 2017

Kettle Moraine HS senior portraits | class of 2017 | Morgan

This is my final post for the Class of 2017. (By the way, they were shared in absolutely no particular order.) However, I have to warn you. This one is a doozy...

Introducing gorgeous Morgan from Kettle Moraine High School's graduating class of 2017.

Not just anyone can make a basic headshot look so... glamorous.

One of the first things that struck me about Morgan is her desire to be her own version of HER. She's not a follower.

While so many of her classmates were posing for their senior portraits on a farm or by a barn, she wanted something completely different. Morgan specifically asked for an urban look - so we headed off to the Third Ward.

She was a natural in front of the camera.

Morgan is not only a dancer and an athlete, but she has many academic awards on her resume, too. Her favorite subject is Art. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Scherer because she's "very inviting, caring and humorous."

As for her future college career? She's ready to figure that out. Morgan's biggest problem? She likes so many different subjects that she can't decide "what she wants to be when she grows up."

Whatever you do, I know one thing for sure... you will do it well!

Congratulations on your graduation, Morgan! Good luck to you and your bright, beautiful future!

It's your turn, class of 2018! Let's make some amazing portraits of you! Your first task: fill out this form.

Kettle Moraine HS senior portraits | class of 2017 | Nick

Today is yet another high school graduation celebration! Let's send a big shout-out to Nick and his family for a successful senior year at Kettle Moraine High School. Woot woot!

I had a fun time working with Nick on his senior portraits. First of all, he's got a great sense of humor. Lucky for me, he totally went along with my stupid 4th grade jokes.

Nick is an artist. He loves to draw and create new characters from his imagination.

Coincidentally, there were a few (non-imaginary) characters watching us during his photo shoot....

So, you see, Nick lives on a FARM. Those guys are his goats! And they wanted in on the action.

I always like to ask students if they have a favorite teacher. Nick did, and was glad to tell me why. Mr. Barder kept the class entertained and he taught so Nick stayed focused.

Nick may be unique in his likes, dislikes, wishes and desires, but one thing I observed from our conversation is that he is a classic-minded kid. He likes Billy Joel, Barnes & Noble and the color blue. You can't go wrong with that!

Random Fact: The tree in this photo is certified as the largest tree in southeast Wisconsin. It's so big you can't even hug it!

At the end of Nick's photo shoot/tour around his farm, we met up with a VIP -- a Very Important Pup.

Congratulations to Nick on his graduation from Kettle Moraine High School. I can't wait to see what you do with your future!

Tosa East HS Senior Portraits | class of 2017 | Emma

We are in the thick of high school graduations.

These kids have worked SO diligently, tried SO hard and studied VERY late into many a night. However, at this point, let's be honest, they are ONLY looking forward to the moment when they finally get to toss their graduation caps into the air. Squeeeee!!

I'd be willing to bet that this beautiful and talented member of the class of 2017 feels no different.

Allow me to introduce... dear Emma from Tosa East High School.

She came to me with the desire to shoot some of her senior portraits in a park. With flowers. Mmm. Okay....

She also really wanted some photos wearing her dance uniform.

Once I saw her, I knew one thing for sure. Emma's smile is simply captivating.

Aurora Central Catholic HS | class of 2017 | Emily

Today marks the first of my 2017 seniors to graduate. Miss Emily's big day is TODAY!!! Congrats, girl!

In all honestly, as much as I ABSOLUTELY ADORE the kids I photograph -- every last one of them -- this young lady has a special place in my heart. She's my niece!

As with anyone else, my ultimate function in the senior portrait process is to make the experience and the outcome reflect THE SENIOR. Sure, you mix in my style, my technique, my vision... but you add in the location that THE SENIOR chooses, the environment that makes THE SENIOR come alive and the tone of the session BECOMES A REFLECTION OF THEIR PERSONALITY.

So, with great pride, allow me to introduce my niece Emily.... graduate of the Aurora Central Catholic High School class of 2017.

Emily is a SMART girl. (Yes, I know I'm biased, but I'm simply reporting the facts!) She has a lifelong love of reading. Her favorite topics are World War II, Abraham Lincoln and....

Selfishly, I'm pretty excited that her choice of colleges moves her CLOSER to us. Carthage College in Kenosha will be "home" for the next years.

Congratulations Emily! I can't wait to see you and give you a giant hug. Have fun celebrating your graduation this weekend.

I am now booking the class of 2018 for their senior portraits. Would you like more information? Fill out this form and I will be in touch wiht you.

Do you know a mom of a high school junior?

More specifically (and realistically) -- do you know a mom of a high school junior who is in complete denial over the fact that her "baby" is going to be a high school SENIOR?

Send that mom on over to me!

Well, first, give her a warm, comforting hug and THEN tell her to watch this little video. Okay... maybe after the hug and before the video... pour her a glass of wine.

Are you ready, Mom in Denial? You can do this. I believe in you. (And we both know your kid is, like, totally rolling his eyes at all this blubbering.)

My job, aside from taking the most breathtaking and sob-inducing portraits of your soon-to-be-senior, is to make this process as EASY AS POSSIBLE. Really. I want you and your son or daughter to have a fun and stress-free senior portrait experience. I want you to enjoy this time and walk away with a smile on your face, a timeless portrait on your wall and a story to tell.

I look forward to answering any questions you have, learning more about you and getting your senior portrait process rolling.

Fill out the form below and let's do this!
