Tosa East HS class of 2020 Sneak Peek | Drew

Everyone, this is Drew.

Drew, this is everyone.

Say hi.

Drew had his senior photos this weekend and they couldn’t have gone any better! In fact, Drew is one of those (many) kids who, when it comes down to it, is doing it for dear ol’ mom. He wasn’t exactly overjoyed to be having his own personal photo shoot.

But guess what? I won him over. (I always do. Wink.)

And look at him! This is one of many AMAZING shots of Drew. There are many more where this came from so mom, relax. You are in good hands.

Now the only question is, how do you want to display this great portrait?

I help my clients by guiding them through the photo selection process. That includes not only choosing the photos, but also figuring out HOW to display them and HOW BIG to make them.

3 STEPS TO PERFECT WALL DISPLAYS

—> STEP 1: Choose your format
For today’s example, let’s say we decided to go with framed prints.

—> STEP 2: Choose your size
My clients receive simple instructions on what they need to do. (Hint: it merely involves Scotch tape, a phone camera and the internet) I literally do the rest. No thinking involved!

When you come in for your Reveal + Selection Appointment, I will have samples of displays using YOUR walls in your home.

So let’s say this is your living room.

Let’s say you come into your appointment thinking a “big” 8x10 print will be plenty large enough.

Okaaay… here you go. Here’s an 8x10 framed print on your living room wall. It looks a little… bit… miniature, don’t you think? In fact, you can’t even make out the poor kid’s face.

Room-8x10.jpg

What if we try a larger size that fits the wall better?

Here’s a 24x20 framed photo. Isn’t that better?

It does still look a little lonely on that wall, but it definitely works.

Room-24x20.jpg

What if you added two more images on either side? Here we have two 16x20 framed prints with the 20x24 framed print in the middle.

That. Looks. Amazing.

(Obviously, unless you’re a superfan of Andy Warhol, we would choose three different images.)

—> STEP 3: HANG YOUR PORTRAITS
Once your photos are in place, there is no greater joy than walking into a room and seeing your child’s gorgeous smiling face looking back at you.

Are family photos in your future? Do your walls need some joy? Let’s connect and start down the path toward the perfect family portraits. (Psst. You may want to book your October dates before I run out of weekends.)

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?
Anyone who wants to streamline their daily beauty routine, have a look all their own, and feel confident that they are presenting the best version of themselves to the world.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
When I left NYC for Silicon Valley, I had a hard time finding a lash salon that was as good as the salon I left in NYC.  After a year in Silicon Valley, I wasn't happy and decided to move back to Milwaukee for family reasons.  My next thought was "Who is going to do my lashes?"  Not "Where will I work?" or "Where will I live?".  I had my priorities!  ;)  Yelp listed a few lash stylists with good ratings but most were sole proprietors so their hours and/or locations were not convenient for a typical corporate engineer like myself.  It was then that I decided to bring a lash salon franchise to Milwaukee.  But not just any lash salon franchise to Milwaukee.  I'm bringing the best and oldest lash salon franchise, THE LASH LOUNGE.  Our Founder and Chief Innovation Office, Anna Phillips, started doing lashes in 2004 and opened up the first dedicated lash salon in the United States in 2006.  I am ECSTATIC about bringing this amazing service backed by 15 years of experience to Milwaukee.

WHAT IS SOMETHING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
Let's hone "people" down to most men.  Most men think lashes are superfluous and many men have told me they "don't get it".  I tell them that their opinion is ok as lash extensions are not for everyone.  But invariably, they will come back to me at a later point to say how they've noticed lash extensions in ways they didn't expect.  For example, my father told me recently he was watching a 1950s-era western / cowboy movie and he could see how the lead actress was wearing long lashes, but the leading man was not.  He said he didn't realize lash extensions were being used "all the way back then."  Just between us - lash extensions started even earlier around the turn of the 20th century. ;)

NAME ONE THING THAT YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
That starting a business, even a franchise, can be lonely as a lot of work is done by yourself in your home office.  Yes, I have tremendous support from Anna and others at my franchisor but most days it is just me lining up business services like accounting and insurance, setting up and conducting interviews for salon staff, completing the necessary HR documents like the employee handbook, etc.  To combat the loneliness, I attend different networking opportunities and have established a small group of accomplished women that get together for spin class and breakfast once or twice a month.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
The honor to lead a great team that provides amazing services that help our clients look and feel their most confident.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
If you're starting your own business, you have to love what you do or it will become just another job. I love beauty/fashion and I'm industrial engineer who loves process. Franchising replicates successful processes. THE LASH LOUNGE is perfect for me!

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
After 20+ years in the radio industry, I decided to take my experience in branding, events and marketing strategy and open my own business. Now, I get to help small business owners build their companies.

WHAT IS SOMETHING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
For the most part, people believe that marketing is about coming up with a clever way to tell people about your business. It's not. Marketing is about coming up with a clever way to express the BENEFIT of using your business. So, instead of talking about your business, you need to talk about how your business helps solve a problem for the customers. The magic phrase "WIIFM - What's In It For Me?"

NAME ONE THING THAT YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
Time spent on strategy saves 10x the hassle on execution. If you don't have a solid plan, you're going to waste a lot of time, energy and money trying to grow your business.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I get to work with inspired business owners every day!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
Listen. The answers are with your customers, not you.

Sneak Peek for the Stein kids

Let me tell you a secret. You never know what conditions you might run into with an outdoor portrait session…

The weather could be utterly humid.

The balloons could all pop before we could use them.

BUT.

The kids? They were perfection.

John and Julia were fun and flexible during their outdoor session, balloons and humidity be darned.

Here’s a Sneak Peek:

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?
Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
I'm where I am today because I kept following my passions without worrying about the HOW and WHAT. I studied English and Creative Writing at St. Norbert College without having an ideal career in mind. I stumbled upon a public relations internship with the De Pere Chamber of Commerce which I thoroughly enjoyed! After that, I had four more internships in social media and digital marketing. My final internship turned into my first job at a digital marketing agency in Appleton. There, I was able to combine my love for writing and words with digital marketing. After spending a few years in digital marketing, I discovered my passion for entrepreneurship and started my own business where I only offer content marketing service.

WHAT IS SOMETHING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
Sometimes people think I only post on social media, but it goes way beyond that! What I build with my clients is their content strategy to achieve their business goals and social media is just one part of that.

NAME ONE THING THAT YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
wish people knew that marketing is part of an experimental and researched-based process that grows your business. There is no one-size-fits-all. I have so many business owners ask "When is the best channel? When is the best time to post?" and the answer is it depends on your specific audience.  It does take some time and some trial and error before you find the best strategy for your business!
