Anniversary on the Lake | celebrating 50 years

Celebrating an amazing life together, a beautiful family and FIFTY wonderful years.

This is one of the reasons I love photographing large families.

Oftentimes there is a celebration of some sort - whether a holiday or an anniversary - and I get to be a part of their day and help build the memories that will hang on their mantel.

Happy anniversary to this energetic and spunky couple, Sharon and Werner, on fifty years of marriage.

Is your family celebrating something? Is your family together for the holidays? I still have a few dates open through the rest of the year. Yes, you read that right. Through the rest of the year. Check out my calendar HERE.

P.S. Would you please just take a second and look at Sharon and Werner’s PERFECT WARDROBE COORDINATION? This is an absolutely adorable and ideal mix of color coordination yet not matching too perfectly. Gold star for you!

Sneak Peek | Milwaukee couple + their BFF

Have you ever wondered what a "Power Couple" would actually look like? Well, here's your answer!

Meet Dan and Amanda. They are quite the pair, each entrepreneurs in their own right. In fact, I would even go as far as calling them Mr. and Mrs. Milwaukee. EVERYONE seems to know them. What? You don't??? Turn to the person next to you. Do they know Dan and Amanda. See? I told you.

Dan is THE Tall Guy of Tall Guy and a Grill and Amanda runs The Simple Home. I was completely honored when they asked me to photograph them.

Today I'm sharing one (adorable!) shot as a little Sneak Peek into their session.

Enjoy Sneak Peek, guys! And make sure you tell Murphy that the lady with all the treats says hi. :)

Is it time to update your family photos? Let's talk! I have some openings left for July but I'm also booking into August (and beyond). Let's get something scheduled today!

The Anniversary Post - an UPDATE!

I have an update!

The sweet newlyweds  wrote about HERE had a slight change to their story.

(Lesson Learned/Confession: in my old-ish age, my memory ain't what it used to be. Now I write stuff down.)

So how did the story change? Really, Claudia just elaborated with more details of their Fairy Tale Romance....

After they had been dating a while (in Brussels), Claudia left for the U.S.  Neither wanted a long distance relationship (who can blame them?), so they broke up.

"But," added Claudia, "three months later he decided to come and visit me, and since then he never wanted to leave... and you know the rest of the story."

Yes we do. Oh, my heart! (sniff)

What she told me next just about broke me: "...he left everything by choice: his family, his friends, his job, his culture and country... he even gave up to the cheese and baguettes!"

Someone get the mop, I'm a PUDDLE!

SFP international engagement

So they had their wedding ceremony in the French Alps.

And then they had a wedding celebration in Chihuahua, Mexico.

If you're counting, technically, they had THREE weddings in three countries.

And then.

Here's the BIG UPDATE.

Ready?

Claudia sent me this....

Felicidades! Congratulations! Félicitations!

I am over the moon happy for you both... or rather, all three of you.

Expect ANOTHER update soon. wink wink.

Happy Anniversary Christopher + Claudia!

I am a portrait photographer. I do not shoot weddings.

Well. I didn't. Until this one time when I did.

SFP wedding party fun

So, like I said, I do not specialize in weddings. Because of that, I don't often get the opportunity to shoot engagement portraits. Wedding photographers usually include the engagement session in their packages. That makes the odds of someone looking for ONLY engagement photos Very Slim.

That being said, Claudia called me last year requesting an engagement session. I joyfully accepted and we commenced making plans for her big day (ha).

I should have suspected something, but I am at times (often?) rather dense.

She told me they wanted to go downtown, starting at the courthouse where they were signing some papers.

Signing some papers, eh?

Signing their marriage certificate was merely the beginning-of-the-end of Christopher and Claudia's bellisima   Love Story.

Yep.There it was. I was shooting my first wedding.  Never say never.

Married!

Married!

As they viewed their marriage certificate for the first time, I caught Claudia glimpse over at her new husband. Look at that smile!

Their Story.

Claudia is from Chihuahua, Mexico. Christopher is Leon, France. Stop right there - that is too cute. In my head I picture a puppy and a lion with hearts floating over their heads. Aww.

Friends, fiances and married in Milwaukee! Look at that joy! Felicidades!

Fate brought these two together in Belgium where they were working for the same international company. They met, they fell in love. Then, they were both relocated... across the ocean... to Milwaukee! Oh, the odds! It's a real life fairytale!

So, legally they were married in Milwaukee one year ago.

They planned a religious ceremony, surrounded by a global gathering of friends and family, in France. In the French Alps, to be precise. In autumn. (swoon!)

Seriously, theirs is a story written for a fairytale. Love finds its way, no matter where you are born. It finds you and carries you along to meet your Happily Ever After.
