Wauwatosa West class of 2026 | Jack
Let’s meet Jack! He’s a Wauwatosa West senior with a packed roster of sports, big plans ahead, and the same reaction most guys have when their mom mentions senior portraits. We had a great session together at the park, and his photos turned out exactly the way the best ones do: relaxed, genuine, and completely him. Since Jack's session is such a great example of what a guys' session can look like, we're using his feature to break down a few tips for any guy heading into their own senior portraits.
Congratulations Jack on your graduation! I’m so thrilled for you!

Let's be real — for most guys, "senior portraits" sounds about as appealing as a dentist appointment. But when a guy's session goes well, the photos are some of the most powerful I take all year. Here's how to make sure yours does.
Senior Portraits for Guys: 5 Tips to Actually Feel Like Yourself in Front of the Camera
1. YOU DON’T HAVE TO POSE - JUST SHOW UP. The goal isn't to look like a catalog model. It's to look like you on a good day. I'll give you direction ("walk toward me," "lean against that") but nothing that'll make you feel like you're auditioning for America’s Top Model. The less you think about performing, the better the photos.
2. KEEP YOUR OUTFITS SIMPLE. Layers, solid colors, and clothes you'd actually wear. Skip the loud graphics — they compete with your face and tend to be too distracting. Bring two or three options so your gallery has some variety, and wear what makes you feel like yourself. Comfort reads on camera, always.
3. PICK A LOCATION THAT FEELS LIKE YOU. It doesn't have to be dramatic. A park with good light will almost always beat a flashy spot where the lighting is a nightmare. What matters is that it feels natural — somewhere you'd actually hang out, not somewhere that screams "photo set."
4. EXPECT THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES TO BE AWKWARD. You suddenly forget how to stand, waht to do with your hands, you're not sure where to look, everything feels weird. This is completely normal and has zero bearing on how your photos turn out. Give it a few minutes, get moving, and it clicks. Plus, once you adjust to my guidance, we’re golden!
5. THESE PHOTOS ARE FOR YOU, TOO. Senior portraits have a reputation as something moms want and guys tolerate. But I've watched a lot of guys go quiet while viewing their gallery before saying, "okay, these are actually really good." This moment is worth documenting — because someday you'll want to remember exactly who you were at 17.
Summer books fast in the Milwaukee and Waukesha area. If your student is in the Class of 2027, NOW is the time to get on the calendar — before the schedule fills up and before yearbook deadlines are breathing down your neck. Summer is an absolutely ideal time to get senior portraits taken.
