Local Business Spotlight | Tina Raasch-Prost

NAME
Tina Raasch-Prost

COMPANY
TRP Design Group

POSITION
Owner | Interior Design Principal

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?
Small businesses with 2-50 employees, looking to use their office space to highlight their expertise.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
I've wanted to be an interior designer since I was a child.  The way color interacted with itself was magical to me and I wanted to experience that every day.  Even today, when a design comes together it is just as exciting as the first time.

WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
People think interior design is all about colors, furniture, accessories...that's literally just the icing on the project.  The real purpose of interior design especially commercial interior design is to solve problems (productivity, layout, recruitment/retention), provide a safe work environment and THEN we make it look good.

NAME ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I wish people appreciated just how much time really goes into designing a space.  It's very technical (codes, understanding building construction, etc.), it doesn't look like your doing anything when you're thinking but a lot of thought goes into how to pull everything together so it is productive, meets code, meets the clients goals and looks amazing.  It takes a lot of time.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
Partnering with my clients to bring their vision to life.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
Minor in psychology.

What is the ONE book that you think I should read RIGHT NOW?
The Bible...it helps me keep my sanity when things get sticky.
