Family Photos: They're Not Just for Kids | Lu Family

When I say “family photos” what do you think? Probably what comes to mind is what kind of family you have. It’s maybe even pretty typical.

But it doesn’t have to be.

Tom came to me about family photos. He told me his story and I was immediately taken in.

This is Tom. He moved here from China to pursue a college degree and career. He was recently hired by a firm, had been working a while and felt like having photos taken would be a refreshing idea.

Also, he had a very special visitor staying with him for a while.

His grandmother.

Their relationship was such a pleasure to watch… she acted as his caretaker. He stood in as her protector. And you could see how close and loving they were toward each other. Just look at how he is gazing down at his sweet grandmother. My heart melted with this one, single shot.

As if a grandmother visiting from halfway across the globe wasn’t reason enough for family photos, there’s yet another “big” reason… Tom recently adopted a PUPPY. Allow me to introduce Ace.

As usual, I promptly forgot about all the humans. Show me a dog and I’m smitten. (Sorry Tom.)

When Tom hired me, he told me one of the big reasons for wanting photos taken at this time in his life.

“Say goodbye to the past. A new beginning.”

As we sat in the backyard of his very first home on a beautifully sunny day, his future certainly was looking especially bright. And I think that’s a perfectly good reason for professional photos.
