Brookfield East HS class of 2021 Sneak Peek | Liam

Ah, today’s featured senior is Liam. What a melting pot of talent!! He’s a theater kid, a dancer, he juggles, he’s a creative thinker and loves a good joke. He’s simply a FUN person to be around.

He even was sweet enough to feign interest in my nerdy photography knowledge.

During sessions, I like sharing what I’m doing and why. Most people nod and smile as I watch their eyes glaze over. I can’t blame them - it’s the same thing that would happen if you tried explaining trigonometry to me.

But Liam took interest in my gear, caught on to why and how I was lighting him and even - gasp! - asked me questions!!

So in order to further quench his fascination (even if it was really just Liam being polite), his Sneak Peek is a full-fledged lighting before-and-after.

First, we have the shot before the shot. In this photo, my flash didn’t fire. The result? It’s what you would have seen with ONLY the natural light given to us by the sun.

And now ladies and gentlemen, if you scroll down, we have THE SHOT.

Blonde boy in black leather jacket poses with serious expression in the trees.

Can you see the difference?

People ask me all the time why I would bring my own lights for a session when it’s sunny out - or even when there’s any daylight at all. This - all of this - is exactly why.

WHEN I BRING MY OWN LIGHT SUPPLY, I CAN CONTROL:

  1. the amount of shadows in the scene

  2. the dark shadows in eye sockets

  3. the “twinkle” in your eyes

  4. the creation of nice smooth and even skin

  5. the pop! of the subject from the background

  6. the amount you love and adore your portraits

Want to find out for yourself? Let’s schedule your very own Light Test…. also known as a portrait session! C’mon! It’ll be fun! I’m now booking portraits for the class of 2021 seniors, families and kids.
