Tosa East High School Senior Portraits | class of 2016 | Maggie

Senioritis is a real thing. I know because I had it (a zillion years ago!) and Maggie tells me that she's got it BAD. It's so close the end of the school year, everything seems to be wrapping up, coming to an end and closing down... plus, she already chose a college for the fall. So really, can you blame her for catching a case of the "let's move on with things"?

Besides, it's MAGGIE we're talking about here. Her version of "not caring" about homework is turning in an assignment without proofreading it. She's such a good, kind-hearted kid that she couldn't do a bad job if she tried.

Plus, as you can see she's BEAUTIFUL.

This made photographing her SO EASY. I almost felt like I was cheating. Her smile is so natural - it never looked forced.

Maggie will be attending St. Louis University in the fall. Except for one small hitch.... she nannies and babysits for several families around Wauwatosa. As of right now, we have not agreed to let her leave.

Well, it's true - we will ALL miss her when she goes to college. BUT. This is Maggie we're talking about... she will do amazing things with her future.

Best of luck to you, Maggie! xoxo

Local Business Spotlight | April Folgert

NAME
April Folgert

POSITION
Nursing Professor

MKE-headshots-Local-Business-Spotlight-April-Folgert

Who is your ideal client?
Prospective Nursing Students

What is something people THINK they know about your job?
Some people think that nursing professors seek to weed out students and create policies that cause students' success to be more challenging than it should be. In actuality, nursing programs are held to very high standards by clinical sites, states' board of nursing, and the community. As a result, faculty expectations are more rigid than what may seem reasonable.

Name one thing you WISH people knew about your job?
Being a nurse educator is emotional work. When students have an "ah ha" moment, I am absolutely thrilled. When they are not successful, my heart breaks. Nursing professors care about our students like bedside nurses care about their patients. We are still nurses.

Tell us a secret about your job.
Contrary to popular belief, most nursing professors do not enjoy grading papers.

What is the ONE book that you think I should read RIGHT NOW?
Learning to Lead in Higher Education by Paul Ramsden

Muskego High School Senior Portraits | class of 2016 | Arthur

May begins the quick descent into the graduation celebration season. I thought, what better reason to kick off my class of 2016 senior introductions. For the next month, come back and read about the awesome high school seniors I photographed and see what makes them so special.

Let's start with Arthur...

No amount of shyness will steer me away. My end-goal is always to capture my subject's essence, personality and mood. I was able to do just that with Arthur - PLUS a smile!

In a few of the shots below, it looks like he's smirking because he probably was. I was doing everything to make a COMPLETE AND TOTAL FOOL of myself just to make him smile. It worked. And now Arthur surely thinks I'm an idiot.... but his mom is happy, and in the end, that's all that matters.

Arthur has a shoveling and lawn service that keeps him busy. Hire him quick for the summer because come fall, he'll be off to college! In September Arthur will be a freshman business student at  UW-Madison.

Good luck, Arthur! I wish you the best of luck in your BRIGHT future!
