Kettle Moraine HS

Congratulations to Chloe | a class of 2018 graduate

Once in a while a portrait session comes together so quickly that I don't get a chance to get to know my clients beforehand as much as I'd like to. It happens; schedules align, the weather works and yearbook deadlines loom. So we just do it!

In those situations, I find that I can show up in one of two ways: either on the defense, not sure what to expect OR with an open mind, not sure what to expect. (If you know me at all, you know which one I choose.) The way I see it, whoever is meeting me is WAY more nervous than I am. After all, they are the ones being photographed!

On this day (with THE perfect weather, by the way), I was waiting for Chloe. I knew she was a senior at Kettle Moraine High School.

When we first met, she gave the impression that she was a little timid. I'll tell you what, first impressions are not always right. This girl is funny, smart and confident.

We basically walked around the park like two friends hanging out, except one of them kept putting a giant camera to her face and telling the other one to look cute.

My first job - especially when we are both going in blind - is to put my subject at ease. When they are ready, we start with easy, comfortable poses and simple shots - just to get "warmed up".

Then we venture out looking for new spots, new angles, new light.

Chloe, I had such a great time getting to know you! You exude a quiet confidence that will take you so, so far. (But not too far because your sweet parents will miss you terribly!)

Kettle Moraine HS | congrats to the class of 2018 + Kyle Loose

Here's another great grad-to-be... let's all give a polite golf clap to Kyle Loose from Kettle Moraine High School's class of 2018.

We shot his senior portraits at one of my favorite locations.

We met at the nearby golf course and did a quick shoot just in time for:
1. the golf course to be empty
2. sunset
3. before the Friday night football game started

I'm not a golfer, but I can still appreciate the silence of an empty green, the hush of the open fields and the vastness and beauty of the rolling hills and carefully manicured landscaping. It's no wonder Kyle wanted to use this spot for his photos.

I wish Kyle all the success his future can possibly hold.

Happiness is a long walk with a putter.

Kettle Moraine HS Senior Portraits | class of 2018 | Sneak Peek for Chloe

Chloe and I met last week at her session. I had some insight on her from her parents and my questionnaire but she didn't know me at all. That could be nerve-wracking. (haha, yes, and once you know me, that could also be a little nerve-wracking!)

We were like two pieces of a puzzle. She and I clicked just like that! What an adorable girl! I can't wait to show her ALL of the results of her session. I'm POSITIVE she will be VERY HAPPY.

What? You want to see the Sneak Peek? Oh, ok....

Here is the beautiful, glowing CHLOE from Kettle Moraine High School's class of 2018.

Isn't she just a DOLL?

Thanks for a fun session, Chloe!

Did you wait till the very last minute for senior photos? Quietly and discreetly click here, I won't tell a soul.

Kettle Moraine HS senior portraits | class of 2017 | Morgan

This is my final post for the Class of 2017. (By the way, they were shared in absolutely no particular order.) However, I have to warn you. This one is a doozy...

Introducing gorgeous Morgan from Kettle Moraine High School's graduating class of 2017.

Not just anyone can make a basic headshot look so... glamorous.

One of the first things that struck me about Morgan is her desire to be her own version of HER. She's not a follower.

While so many of her classmates were posing for their senior portraits on a farm or by a barn, she wanted something completely different. Morgan specifically asked for an urban look - so we headed off to the Third Ward.

She was a natural in front of the camera.

Morgan is not only a dancer and an athlete, but she has many academic awards on her resume, too. Her favorite subject is Art. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Scherer because she's "very inviting, caring and humorous."

As for her future college career? She's ready to figure that out. Morgan's biggest problem? She likes so many different subjects that she can't decide "what she wants to be when she grows up."

Whatever you do, I know one thing for sure... you will do it well!

Congratulations on your graduation, Morgan! Good luck to you and your bright, beautiful future!

It's your turn, class of 2018! Let's make some amazing portraits of you! Your first task: fill out this form.
