A Man and His Chocolate Lab | Birthday Sneak Peek

The most important thing first - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Tom asked me if I could get a little Sneak Peek out by his birthday.

How about ON his birthday?

Tom had me out to his home for a special portrait session. He and Ace needed some photos together. Ace, the chocolate lab who is camera shy. (I recognize the head turn because my own Fur Baby does the same thing!)

Not only that, Tom’s grandmother was visiting from China and he wanted to capture their time together.

Now THAT is sweet.

Whatever your reason, don’t wait until it’s too late, the family moves away or goes back home. Schedule family photos while you can and you will appreciate your efforts later.

Marquette University HS Class of 2020 | Sneak Peek for JJ

It’s back-to-school season here in the Milwaukee area. Some schools - but not all - have gone back in the last week… and then there’s the rest of them that go back after Labor Day.

JJ is a senior at Marquette University High School and classes for the boys at MUHS started last Wednesday. We squeezed his session in the finally, fleeting moments of (his) summer.

JJ (and JJ’s mom, of course!) here’s a Sneak Peek from your senior photo session. I was glad to have the chance to work with you!

Now hang on a second — even if school has started, yearbook photos aren’t due quite yet. (Except for you, Brookfield Central families. You have the earliest deadline that I know of!) We still have plenty of time — as in, months - to get those senior photos shot and sent in.

So to you moms reading this in panic, relax! Sit back, breathe and let me help you. From a consultation to answer your questions to yearbook photo delivery to graduation announcements ordered, my job is to make things easier on you. My other job is to make sure your high school senior looks phenomenal in their photos.

Click that button right there to learn more about senior photos and to see more samples of my work. Or complete the form below and I’ll get back to you pronto.

Pair of Sisters | Wales Family Sneak Peek

I love this family!

These two sisters, Madison and Morgan, are so close, they practically think for each other. They are constantly fixing each other to perfection, making sure the other one looks her best, without a hair out of place.

Their mom, Kristin, is doting and loving and adores them with all her heart. She seems to really get them, which is saying something when you have teenagers.

And then there’s their step-dad, Jim. He’s the quiet observer amidst all the chaos. He just stands off to the side watching and listening. If I didn’t know better, he’s probably secretly writing some crazy “Day in the Life”-type memoir.

Meanwhile I’m standing in front of all of them with my camera going, “So, who’s first?” and “How did you all get MORE beautiful?!”

Here’s your little Sneak Peek, Kristin. This is a lovely candid shot, surely right after they both rolled their eyes at each other.

Madison and Morgan, you are both gorgeous!

And Jim, if you need the name of a publisher…

Fall is coming and Family Season is right around the corner. My autumn weekends are already booking quickly. If you’re thinking of getting your crew together for updated family photos and some holiday cards, don’t delay. I’m scheduling sessions - yes, for real - through the end of the year.

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?
Anyone who wants to streamline their daily beauty routine, have a look all their own, and feel confident that they are presenting the best version of themselves to the world.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
When I left NYC for Silicon Valley, I had a hard time finding a lash salon that was as good as the salon I left in NYC.  After a year in Silicon Valley, I wasn't happy and decided to move back to Milwaukee for family reasons.  My next thought was "Who is going to do my lashes?"  Not "Where will I work?" or "Where will I live?".  I had my priorities!  ;)  Yelp listed a few lash stylists with good ratings but most were sole proprietors so their hours and/or locations were not convenient for a typical corporate engineer like myself.  It was then that I decided to bring a lash salon franchise to Milwaukee.  But not just any lash salon franchise to Milwaukee.  I'm bringing the best and oldest lash salon franchise, THE LASH LOUNGE.  Our Founder and Chief Innovation Office, Anna Phillips, started doing lashes in 2004 and opened up the first dedicated lash salon in the United States in 2006.  I am ECSTATIC about bringing this amazing service backed by 15 years of experience to Milwaukee.

WHAT IS SOMETHING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
Let's hone "people" down to most men.  Most men think lashes are superfluous and many men have told me they "don't get it".  I tell them that their opinion is ok as lash extensions are not for everyone.  But invariably, they will come back to me at a later point to say how they've noticed lash extensions in ways they didn't expect.  For example, my father told me recently he was watching a 1950s-era western / cowboy movie and he could see how the lead actress was wearing long lashes, but the leading man was not.  He said he didn't realize lash extensions were being used "all the way back then."  Just between us - lash extensions started even earlier around the turn of the 20th century. ;)

NAME ONE THING THAT YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
That starting a business, even a franchise, can be lonely as a lot of work is done by yourself in your home office.  Yes, I have tremendous support from Anna and others at my franchisor but most days it is just me lining up business services like accounting and insurance, setting up and conducting interviews for salon staff, completing the necessary HR documents like the employee handbook, etc.  To combat the loneliness, I attend different networking opportunities and have established a small group of accomplished women that get together for spin class and breakfast once or twice a month.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
The honor to lead a great team that provides amazing services that help our clients look and feel their most confident.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
If you're starting your own business, you have to love what you do or it will become just another job. I love beauty/fashion and I'm industrial engineer who loves process. Franchising replicates successful processes. THE LASH LOUNGE is perfect for me!

WHAT IS THE ONE BOOK THAT YOU THINK I SHOULD READ RIGHT NOW?
Start with Why by Simon Sinek
